Critique of how to fix financial reporting

Critique of how to fix monetary studyingThis compensate has been taken from businessweek and is indite by David Bogoslaw. He is a graduate form the University of Columbia. His briny field of research and rooting includes energy, chemical industry, science and culture. The basic aim of this report is to discern the loopholes in monetary reporting and find solutions to improve the hydrofoil in it. In the wake of present-day(prenominal) crisis the report has much importance as whatever of the ca expenditures of this recent turmoil I context of fiscal reporting are discussed. The report suggests that a study overhaul of the global financial reporting border work is required. Although many reforms and few basic structural make over are directed but main focus of the report remains the transparency and accuracy in financial breeding.Bogoslaw claims that one of the major fact behind this financial crisis is the risky coronations which has forced the paper based financial de rivative thriftiness to collapse. Banks and mortgage landing companies are the worst victim of this current financial crisis as they fork up failed to separate the risk in their products because of the complex nature of the products. The report also tells that some confvictimization accounting practices involve misled the investor by giving wrong and biased averation. Most of the financial annalists are regulators are agreed on the basic principle to acquire the investors confidence back solely the financial institutions willing withstand to improve transparency in their reporting structure. The author has focus in four major areas where he believes that the financial management of any inviolable have to look for loopholes and work out the possible solutions to fix them. agree to Professor jacket of Minnesota Miller who teaches accounting at the University of Colorado, its judgment of conviction for companies to change their view well-nigh capital markets. In the past th ree decades they have prosperously identified some of the major elements for their growth and success but they have failed to recognise the importance of one very(prenominal) important factor. They have managed to build guest loyalty and employee nominate through better care and incentives. They have also adopted just-in-time supply chain management and effective use of information technology has developed honest communication with their suppliers. entirely he thinks that most of the companies have failed to recognise the importance the forth factor which is capital market. Miller argues that a firm must inform capital market about prospective cash flow and intended use of the gained capital. He argues that little or biased information will have negative effect of firms report card. In his views managers in the capital markets are competent enough to figure out any doubtful financial information provided by the company and are in a better position to take decision about the coronation.William Isaac who has been chairman of the Federal Deposit indemnity Corporation in mid 1980s blames FABSs 15 years old control which requires assets to be valued at their current market value. He believes that this rule puts companies in a difficult position to use this rule when the value of their assets has a temporary decline. This further forces the company to write down their asset set and thus equity is destroyed. But SEC and FASB have developed a new way to over come this by allowing companys top management to use their own financial models to value assets when their value has a huge decline in the market.Miller also focuses on making derivatives to a greater extent transparent. He argues that its time to regain the investors confidence for financial stability. He believes that some of the financial reporting practices have to be reformed. eat up -balance-sheet financing and bonus fund accounting practices beneath U.S GAAP have to be reformed.IASB and FASB ar e working together to improve the qualitative characteristics of financial reports, they have successful in the formation of FAS 158 under which pension fund assets and liabilities are shown on the firms balance sheet as net amount instead of in footnotes. In his views, banks now have to introduce plain-vanilla investment products.Kenneth Scott who is a professor at Stanford University thinks that trust for securitized assets like CMO,s can only be gained by improving transparency among these assets as the current structure of these assets is very complex e.gCMO,s CDO,s and CDO squared mixed up and they confuse the investor. The complex structure almost made it impossible for asset managers to calculate the losses in all these assets.Scotts suggests that to improve the transparency for these complex structured securitized asset there is motivation of a basic information bank. He thinks that this is the time for us to trulyise the postulate of an electronic financial reporting syst em. A data base which get all the related financial information and process it to make information more accurate and useful, this will further reduce the uncertainty. To achieve this, credit rating agencies can contribute much as they already have data accumulate which they use to identify the amount of risk associated with individuals and companies when it comes to financial decision making process.Philip Moyer who is chief executive of EDGAR online, fierceness the use of electronic data base formats. tally to him this will give analyst and regulators more time and freedom to prove the data. XBRL is one the most successful software used by many countries to analyze and analyze companys financial data with much ease. One the other hand Cindy Fornelli, who is executive director of the Washington based Centre for Audit Quality, says that investors need to get more access to tools which can help them to understand deeply the financial statements of any company before making any inv estment decision. CQA has recently spotless a year and half long study which was focused on the possible ways to improve the financial reporting structure. The key participants were investors, company officials source chairman of SEC and a state Attorney General. They suggests that financial reports should identify the key performance indicators for the industry in which the firm is trading. This will enable the investor to compare this with other companies and the overall condition of the industry.IntroductionI have been asked to write a critique on David Bogoslaw report how to fix financial reporting. This report has been make in Business Week Online and is important in context of recent financial crisis. Bogoslaw has carefully presented the views of some of the major finance and accounting professionals. Almost 95% of the report is based on the views of these professionals. This report is also a study in the financial crisis and the single-valued function of financial reporti ng in this regard. First I will analyze the key substantive issues raised by the article and so will check the overall reliability of the stated facts and criticism about financial reporting.Substantive IssuesThe report How to Fix Financial Reporting has four main substantive issue to look at and they are as follows complexity in derivativesCapital market ignoranceRole of electronic financial reportingOff balance sheet financingComplexity in derivativesOne of the major element which has shaken the investors trust in the capital market is the complexity which lies in the derivatives. They confuse the investor and it becomes almost impossible for an investor to judge the risk involve in these products. On the other hand Kenneth Scott who is a professor at Stanford University thinks that trust for securitized assets like CMO,s can only be gained by improving transparency among these assets. The current structure of these assets is very complex as CMO,s CDO,s and CDO squared are pooled together. The complex structure almost made it impossible for asset managers to calculate the losses in all these assets.Bogle et al (2009),suggests that in a risk certain culture banks and other lending or mortgage originators must consider the creditworthiness of the borrower. Transparency enables investors to have a reasonable basis fortheir views and reveals existing and potential conflictsof interest. It is suggested by the report that to get the investors back on track banks now have to introduce plain-vanilla investment products for a short period of time. This seems obvious as banks are mostly hit by this global economics slow down.According to Derman (2009), banks now have to take time to consider the risk involve with any kind of decision. This can be achieved by reducing the complexity in the financial products. As plain vanilla products are less complex so the investors are more attracted to less complex products as they believe that they are well aware of the risk invol ved in these products.Scotts suggests that to improve the transparency for all these complex structured securitized asset there is need of basic data bank. To get such(prenominal) a data bank which have all the information regarding all these asset pools is very difficult.Capital Market IgnoranceThe report suggests that companies have failed to recognise the real importance of the capital market. The relationship between firms financial management and the capital market is very important for the success of any firm. According to Professor Paul Miller who teaches accounting at the University of Colorado, its time for companies to change their view about capital markets. In the past three decades they have successfully identified some of the major elements for their growth and success but they have failed to recognise the importance of one very important factor. They have managed to build customer loyalty and employee support through better care and incentives. They have also adopted just-in-time supply chain management and effective use of information technology has developed good communication with their suppliers. But he thinks that most of the companies have failed to recognise the importance the forth factor which is capital market. Miller argues that a firm must inform capital market about prospective cash flow and intended use of the gained capital. He argues that little or biased information will have negative effect of firms reputation. In his views managers in the capital markets are competent enough to figure out any doubtful financial information provided by the company and are in a better position to take decision about the investment.Role of electronic financial reportingThis has been suggested in the report by Scotts that one of the possible way to achieve transparency in some complex structured securitized assets is by using a basic data bank.He thinks that this is the time for us to realise the need of an electronic financial reporting system. A data base which get all the related financial information and process it to make information more accurate and useful, this will further reduce the uncertainty. To achieve this, credit rating agencies can contribute much as they already have data collected which they use to identify the amount of risk associated with individuals and companies when it comes to financial decision making process.Philip Moyer who is chief executive of EDGAR online, emphasis the use ofelectronic data base formats. According to him this will give analyst and regulators more time and freedom to analyze the data. XBRL is one the most successful software used by many countries to analyze and compare companys financial data with much ease .most finance executive accepted the Sec rule on XBRL. Although this software is really helpful in representation of financial data but company has to consider some critical issues in using these products. According to Stuart(2009), its companys own responsibility to valid ate data. Finance staff should make sure that the tags in XBRL should match taxonomy and the underlying 10-Q or 10-K before it goes off to SEC.XBRL has a framework which guides companies to prepare financial statements according International Accounting Standard. This has been shown in the fig1.source http//www.xbrl.org/taxonomy/int/fr/ias/Off-balance sheet financing and operating(a) leaseOff-balance-sheet financing has been criticised by Miller in this report. He believes that companies take advantage of the current GAAP rules when it comes to the operating lease. He believes that some of the financial reporting practices have to be reformed. Off -balance-sheet financing and pension fund accounting practices under U.S GAAP have to be reformed.IASB and FASB are working together to improve the qualitative characteristics of financial reports, they have successful in the formation of FAS 158 under which pension fund assets and liabilities are shown on the firms balance sheet as net amou nt instead of in footnotes.Finance directors prefer operating lease as it makes their balance sheet shrink. As a general rule-of-thumb a lease does not have to be capitalised so long as the net present value of the lease liabilities amounts to less than 90% of the actual value of the asset.According to Andrew Lennard of Britians Accounting Board the tuberosity between operating lease and finance lease is a fine line. If a lease is giving the company control like of ownership then the accounts should reflect that. So all the lease should be on the balance sheet. This can misled the investors and other stake holders like credit companies as if they capitalise their operating lease their gearing ratios will shoot up.But off-balance-sheet financing can be a useful tool. This compels the investors to look deeply into the some kind of off-the-book deals. But many companies are reluctant to provide such kind of information. So the key issue remains the disclosure (Feldman, Amy 2002).Validi ty of the implied criticism of corporate financial reportingTo validate any of the criticism made in this article we have to look into the related literature and some the regulation which govern the financial practices in the market. The most important things to consider in this regard is the conceptual framework and qualitative characteristics of financial information. The qualitative characteristics of financial information defines four main characteristics in any financial information namely reliability, comparability, understanding and relevance. The reports says that investors confidence in markets can only be regained by improving the financial transparency. So basically the author suggests that reliability of the financial information has to be achieved. For financial information to be reliable it must be free from errors. The presentation should be faithful and neutral. It has to be prudent and complete(Elliott Elliott 2008).The author believes that many companies have failed to provide accurate and complete information about their financial standing which is against the qualitative characteristics of financial information. The report also discuss the off-balance sheet finance and operating leases as the current structure of financial reporting makes it hard for a common investor to recognise and understand the firms real financial position. We again look this fact from the perspective of qualitative characteristics of financial reporting and come up with the answer that these practices reduce the understandbility of the information. The report emphasis that it is basic responsibility of firms management to keep capital markets informed about their financial standing. Deliberately biased information will effect the companys reputation and will have a negative effect on their over all performance. This comes under the objectives of financial reporting as governments and other agencies like capital markets are also the come under one the main user group of f irms financial information in the form of financial statements(Elliott Elliott 2008)ConclusionsAlthough finance has neer been a previous reporting filed for David Bogoslaw but he has produced a very good and comprehensive report on a very complex put down with the help of professional approach. The major part of the report consists of financial and accounting personalities of decent repute which makes this report more attractive. The report basically emphasis the need of more transparency in financial reporting structure. The four major areas of concern in this report are short shrift to capital markets, restructuring of complex derivatives, need for electronic financial reporting and some basic changes in accounting techniques. The author has been successful in sending his message out about the role of financial reporting in current financial crisis.Need for a basic financial data base has been conveyed in the report. This data base will not only speed up the process of financial reporting but also make this information more timely and reliable.

Role of Triage in Emergency Care

Role of Triage in necessity CargonOVERVIEWThere is a consensus on the position that there has been a significant increase in traffic to exigency rooms which has resulted in quickly growing demand on the limited resources of nip rooms worldwide. In 1980, there were more than 82 m unhingedion visit to hospital Emergency rooms in the USA, and a prominent percentage were for non urgent medical conditions. One reason for this trend is that people know they can get medical attention immediately in the Emergency departments without the long wait for appointments. This has led to very high load of longanimouss visit to emergency rooms a pattern that holds true globally for non urgent patient visits to or so paediatric emergency rooms ( Wilson FO etal ).An new(prenominal) reason given for overcrowding is the increase rural to urban migration of populations and also the increase in the meter of consider tind in most emergency room. However, the resulting increase in demand for emerg ency medical care has not been matched by availability of resources in most healthcare systems and hence there is sine qua non for emergency room managers to adopt or develop tools and protocols to prioritize the urgency and acuity of conditions to allocate appropriate direct of care. If this is not done, then there is a likelihood that very ill patients may end up waiting long hours with increased risk of morbidity and some may even die as a result of delay in life saving treatment or hinderances. (Mirjam van veen and Harriette a Moll)DEFINITIONTriage as a term actually originates from the French verb trier, which translates to sort. It was originally used by the military as a theory to deal with large number of casualties managed by very few human and material resources. The decision is made to prioritize who had the best chance of survival, and what level of care for the survivors (LE Slay,WG Rislan )In the last 20 years, this concept has become applicable in response to the increasing traffic to the emergency rooms and several tools crap been essential to assess, prioritize and sort patients coming to the emergency department according to a determined severity of illness or injury, the level of suffering, the likely prognosis and need for intervention with available resources. It must be clarified, that triage in itself is not a diagnostic tool but a systematically structured and methodical look of assessing the severity of patients conditions to determine their clinical priorities using their presenting symptoms and measurable physiological parameters and it aims to optimize the provision of emergency care efficiently to produce the best outcome for both patient by channeling patients to appropriate level and quality of care.Hence the factors that are considered are severity of illness, level of urgency and impact of life saving intervention to reduce mortality rate, as well as level of care needed baring limited resources. These factors can be measured objectively using mortality rate, number of admissions to critical care unit and wards as well as patients referred to low urgency care services. The development of different assessment scoring systems and other paediatric-specific scales were attempts to have an objective approach to the assessment of severity acuity and to help predict illness or injury outcomes in children. Hence the Pediatric Glasgow swoon Scale, the Yale Observation Scale, the Pediatric Trauma Score, the PRISM score (Pediatric Risk of Mortality score), different pain scales and various respiratory severity scoring systems were all attempts to provide common nomenclature and standardize the assessment of severity of sickness and to predict prognosis in the pediatric age group. However in practice the emergency room triage nurse needs a comprehensive, simple and efficient acuity stratificaton of the severity, to make rapid and effective decisions(Dieckmann, 2002). These led to development of various decis ion qualification tools or triage scales.Gerber Zimmerman and McNair had tried to described triage as simply a rating of patients clinical urgency, that lastly evolved into 2 levels of urgent, and non urgent.Triage scales are hence developed with the aim to rapidly identify very urgent cases requiring immediate or urgent life saving treatment, or efficiently direct them to appropriate level of care, and the variations of triage scales are due(p) to functional differences in service provision as well as availability of resources.Though there is no fail proof scale of social stratification because invariably cultural adaptations, level of sophistication of data collection, personal and environmental factors do influence every measurement tool. (Christ et al 2010 as per Azeredo et al)Fittzgerald in his doctoral thesis in 1989, showed it is actually a far more complex decision making tool using defined criteria to classify patients as either a simple 3, 4 or 5 level urgency scale, pio neering the objective distinction of the earlier urgency scales(Fitzgerald GT. Emergency department triage. Department of Medicine. Queensland, Australia University of Queensland,1989.)TRIAGE IN CHILDRENLaskowski-Jones and Salati (2000) had strongly elucidated that children should not be seen as little adults and must not be treated as such by healthcare professionals. This is because of obvious anatomical, physiological, as well as emotional and intellectual differences between children and adults which directly alter the presentation of this group of patients in the emergency departmentLaskowski-Jones.This makes it inapplicable to use adult triage criteria for children of pediatric age due to unique clinic-pathological characteristics that creates the potential for sudden and rapid deterioration when children present to the Emergency department, creating an absolute necesity for very accurate focused triage. There are evidence that in mixed emergency departments, adults tend to be seen earlier than equally ill children resulting in unacceptable waiting times for very ill children, therefore again creating a need for specific pediatric triage scales.(Cain P, Waldrop RD, Jones J improved pediatric patient flow in a general emergency department by altering triage criteria. Acad Emerg Med 365-71, 1996)The UKs Manchester Triage Systems MTS, the USAs Emergency Severity Index ESI, the Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale CTAS, and the Australian(National ) Triage Scale, the most widely used triage scales and by consensus the most studied were all eventually modified to contain specific parts for children, are all also made of five level of triage urgencies (van Veen and Moll)It is important to pecker that none of them had been developed de novo specifically for the pediatric age group. The initial three-level systems which predominated in the United States typically used either levels 1, 2, and 3 or emergenturgentnonurgent classification assignments. These methods are driven by the underlying question, How long can patients wait? When evaluated, these three-level methods had been found to be highly unreliable and have been criticized because they lack institution with clinical outcomes. (Travers DA, Waller AE, Bowling JM, Flowers D,)The 5-level scales provided a better discriminated tool for pediatric patient triage in emergency department, which was shown to be more efficient in predicting resources utilizations including hospital admissions, distance of stay, and resourse utilization.(Chang, Hsu)Though 5-level scales are similar to the adults, but they have pediatric clinic-pathological parameters.Level 1 is critical, level 2 is emergent, level 3 is urgent, level 4 is non-urgent and level 5 is fast track.(ONeil KA, Molczan K Pediatric triage a tier, 5-level system in the United States. Pediatr Emerg Care 19285-290, 2003)The MTS is a five-level scale that incorporates the UK National Triage Scale. It was developed in 1996 and then revised ten years later after thorough input by various experts.(Mackway-Jones et al 2006). Though it was designed predominantly for adults, the MTS eventually adapted six flow charts that relate specifically to children and hence in 2007 it became endorsed by the Royal College of Pediatrics and Child Health.WHAT IS ALREADY KNOWN?What is already complete is that the true functional capability of an effective triage system is determined by their reliability and severity.Reliability is measured as both inter rater reliability which is a measure of the accord between devil or more separate individuals using the same scale. It is an affirmation that the agreement is beyond that presented by chance, and this can be statistically determined and analyzed using Cohens kappa k. Where K is equal to 1 if the raters are in perfect agreement, and K is equal to 0 if their agreement is absolutely by chance. So k is rated from 0.1-0.9 ( as poor to excellent agreement). Intra rater reliability measures the agreement of one triage rater agreeing on the same level of urgency when two different cases of same scenario present on separate occasions.Validity is a determination that a conclusion of a true urgency is in fact the true value for every clinical presentation. Whereas internal validity measures of the ability of the triage system to predict this true urgency within a system, external validity measures its reproducibility in a different setting.Hence experts agree that any triage has to have these characteristics to be seen as a legitimate tool of assessment and to cause as intended Fernandez C.It is also known that the four major triage scales, the MTS, ESI, CTAS, and ATS have been studied and validated for both internal validity and reliability in adults and have been used in ED triage by different health institutions. Some studies reported that the MTS and the Pediatric-CTAS both seem to be valid and reliable to triage children in pediatric emergency care. (Ma, Gafni and Goldman )This has been confirmed by van Veen and Moll in another review in 2009.The CTAS enables rapid stratification of patients at the time of first understand based on 5 levels of urgency (risk and symptom severity). Each level has a targeted waiting period until the patient is examined by the doctor or to be reassessed again in the triage area to consider the possibility of waiting longer or to be seen immediately by the physician. The standards recommended by CTAS is that waiting time is 0 minutes for level 1, 15 minutes for level 2, 30 minutes for level 3, 60 minutes for level 4, and 120 minutes for level 5. Causes And Effects Of Delay In Malaysian Construction Construction Essay

Causes And Effects Of Delay In Malaysian winding Construction EssayIn the social structure industry, shake offs can be delayed among large number of causes. There are different type and categories of delays found on complex body part Projects. Delay has major(ip) effect on completion represent and time of construction Project. Delays can be minimized if they were identifying causes. Knowing the cause of any crabby delay in a construction stick out would help avoiding the same.Even though with different types of studies have been carried out to identify the factors influence the causes of delays, since the riddles are kind of related to the studies need to focus on specific geographical area, or region in Malaysia. A major appreciation of the Malaysia construction industry is due to the growing rate of delays in project delivery. In Malaysia most public work projects, including any construction projects chthonic government authority or under privacy are awarded on a competi tive basis using the traditional approach. The consultants and contractors are engaged in separate contracts. The contractors commonly would be composite until the whole project have been completed1.3 Aim and objective of study1.3.1 AimTo investigate delays pertaining in construction projects in Malaysia1.3.2 ObjectiveTo identify the major causes of delays in construction projectTo identify the effects of delays in construction project andTo identify the methods of minimizing construction delays.1.4 Background of the studyConstruction delay is major jobs frequent occur in the construction industry. Delays adversely impact on project s abridgeholders including owners, design professionals, construction professionals, purchaser and others. The main objectives of construction projects are cost, time, fibre and safety numerousAccording to Assaf, et al. (1995) mentioned the most important causes in large building construction projects in Saudi Arabia which included approval of shop dr awings, delays in payment to contractors and the resulting cash problems during construction, design deepens, conflict in work schedules of subcontractors, slow decision making and executive bureaucracy in owners organizations, design errors, labor famine and inadequate labor skill. Refer to causes of delay in Saudi Arabia, the major parties to lead the delay happen which include lymph gland and contractor. Because of client always change the design of building. Besides that, late responds and poor project management aggroup and alike delay pay month payment to the contractor by client. On the other hand, contactor due to not enough worker during work progress and some argument with sub-contractor.According to Ogunlana, et al. (1996) studied the delays in building project in Thailand, as an example of problem faced by the developing economies. They concluded that the problems of the construction industry in developing economies can be nested in triad layers problem of shortag es or inadequacies in industry infrastructure, mainly supply of resources problems caused by clients and consultants and problems caused by incompetence of contractors. Construction in Thailand because some parties fault due to project delay such as contractor consultant and. During construction stage the client because of changing certain part of design and overlook of experience could not solve the problem immediately. Besides client, designer is one of the parties because of own fault which is give unclear drawing to the contractor due to lack in experience. On the hand, the other parties which is contractor because of facing in poor management team, improper planning and scheduling and also inadequacy of site inspection.According to Chan and Kumaraswamy (1996) surveyed and classified the causes of construction delays in Hongkong as seen by clients, contractor and consultants, and examined the factors affecting productivity. The results of their research indicate that the five p rincipal and common causes of delays are poor site management and supervising unforeseen ground condition low speed of decision making involving all projects team client initiated variations and necessary variation of works. Construction delay in Hongkong, the parties related to delay project include client, consultants, contractor and some relevant party. Factor to related delay by client such as client frequent delay make believe payment to contractor and also suffer in financial problem. Besides client, designer because of lack of experience always make mistake in drawing and late process design document. On the other hand, factor to cause contractor delay project which include lack of experience in project team and also poor site management and supervisions. Other than that, material is also one of the causes. During construction stages, material shortage and material changes to cause project delay.Identified the effects of delays in construction projects have been undertaken by some researchers. According to AIbinu and Jagboro (2002),identified the six effects of delays were time encroach upon, cost overrun, dispute, arbitration, total abandonment, and litigation. The results of their studied about the effects of construction delays on project delivery in Nigerian construction industry, shows time overrun and cost overrun were the frequent effects of delays in construction projects. In construction industry, the effect of project delay because of time and cost overrun. In this situation, some of the faults parties need to take responsibility to pay the loss and expense to those parties suffer in damage.Several studies have been studied and recommended the methods of minimizing delays in construction projects. Nguyen, et al (2004), identified five detailed success factors could be applied to reduce the effects of delays includes competent project manager adequate funding until project completion multidisciplinary/competent project team commitment to pr ojects and availability of resources. To minimizing the project delay during the construction stage, first of all a client needs to hire an experience project manager. Once the problem of delay happen, the project manager can solve immediately. Besides that, the project team member should communicate with other team member.Aibinu and Jagboro (2002) in their study also identified two methods to reduce or if possible eliminate time overrun were acceleration of site activities, and contingency allowance. The contractor essential take rich responsibility during work progress. Once contractor found out actual work progress are not similar with estimate and he must take some action to avoid the project delay such as involve some additional worker.According to Odeh and Battaineh (2002) recommended four methods includes developing gentlemans gentleman resources in the construction industry by dint of and through proper training and classification of craftsman adopting a new approach to contract award procedure by giving less weight to prices and more weight to the capabilities and past performance of contractors and adopting new approaches to contracting, such as design-build and construction management (CM) type of contracts.1.5 Scope of the take inThe scope of the research will focus on literature review and a questionnaire. Projects investigate in this research included school building, church, office, hospital, communication facilities and etcetera The survey will conduct in Malaysia. The questionnaire survey will design based on factors identify from literature review that contributed to causes of delays, effects of delays and methods to minimize delays. A questionnaire will developed to assess the perceptions of contractors and consultants of the relative importance of the causes and the effects of construction delays. The developed survey questionnaire will distributed to the target respondent in Malaysia.1.6 Outline methodological analysisStage 1 Literatu re reviewThe review of literature has provided useful information based on the causes, effects, reactions and possible solution related to the issues delay project in construction industries.Stage 2 Pilot studyData collection will take the form of a structured postal questionnaire. However, an initial pilot study will be conducted to test the validity of the questionnaire through in-depth interviews with three contract manager.Stage 3 Main survey questionnaire and questionnaire go through with interview. The feedback from the pilot study should assist in finalizing the questionnaire and prepare the ground for main survey. The questions with centre around the areas mentioned in the above objectives. In order to obtain a high level of response, a multi-option format will be designed and limited to about 30 question and 10 questions which are go through with interview. Open questions are considered to be inappropriate as they would required the respondents to formulate an answer which n eeds lengthier input and will therefore be more effortful to analyze.Stage 4 Analyzing the postal and interview questionnaireThis stage is analysis of the questionnaire to determine the level of agreement or disagreement by the respondents to each question inside the questionnaire by counting the number of respondents who answer favorably or unfavorably. Besides that, analyze the questions which is done by interview to determine how the contractor to solve the delaying problem of project.Stage 5 Writing the research reportThe stage involves writing up the content of the dissertation and should cover the chapter proposed in the following section.Proposed contentsChapter 1 IntroductionChapter 2 Literature reviewChapter 3 Research design and method of analysisChapter 4 Analysis of the result and discussionChapter 5 final result and future study evidence

Bill Gates: The New Revolutionary Creator Essay -- Bill Gates Papers

Bill Gates The New Revolutionary CreatorIntroduction end-to-end my journey in this honors seminar, I have read about several creators (in Creating Minds) who were pioneers or masters in their respective domains. Each of these creators (Freud, Einstein, Picasso, Stravinsky, Eliot, Graham, and Ghandi) was researched by Howard Gardner who then assort each one as representing one of his seven countersigns (Intrapersonal, Logical/Mathematical, Visual/Spatial, Musical, Verbal/Linguistic, Kinesthetic, and Interpersonal). Interestingly, one of the main reasons he chose those fall inicular individuals as representatives of each intelligence was due to the fact that they had all lived within a certain time period and had made some of their most significant break withs in the early part of the 20th century. Their names and their work still live on today (even long after their deaths). They have been some of the most influential people whose kit and caboodle have helped to shape our percepti ons of our art, music, literature, dance, ourselves, each other, and the very fabric of the universe itself. However, some critics of Gardners work asked why he chose the people he did. Why didnt he train Beethoven for Musical or James Joyce for Verbal/Linguistic? Now that our class has finished studying each of these creators, each one of us has the hazard to research and write about a creator whom we think should be included in Gardners book. While I recognize that there have been many creators from the past who could be included, I find myself asking the question What about creators who are living right now? What about those who are shaping our perceptions, ideologies, and nine right before our own eyes? Along with that, who would be som... ...r part in shaping our present lives. His desire to bring PCs to the homes of consumers has been realized. Partly owing to the advances in computer hardware, but mostly owing to his keen economic insight and gifted ability to create com puter software. How history will ultimately cut down Bill Gates is still undetermined. Despite all the criticisms of him and his company, I hope that Bill Gates will be recognized a genuine historical creator and have his name placed among the ranks Freud, Einstein, Picasso, Stravinsky, Eliot, Graham, and Ghandi.ResourcesBill Gates Biography Page Http//www.microsoft.com/billgates/bio.htmGates, Bill. Brave New World :: essays research papers

Today there are strong debates and questions about the laughable breakthroughs in science such as cloning, in communications through the Internet with its never ending pool of bonkledge, and the increasing level of submergence in entertainment. People facing the 21st century are trying to determine whether these new realities of life will enhance it and bring life as they know it to a great unprecedented level, or if these new products will contribute and perhaps even cause the destruction of society and life. To many cloning, censoring, and total immersion entertainment are new, but to those who have read Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, the topics are reminiscent of the horror that is found in Huxleys sham utopian knowledge base where the dehumanizing of man is deliver the goodsd in the interests of "Community, Identity, Stability," the world states motto. The novel Brave New World shows that in order for a utopian society to achieve a state of stability, a loss of individuality, and the undoing of Mother Nature must occur. Successfully engineering these conditions produces a world where hatful are lastly living "happily ever after," but at a great cost. The time of Brave New World is in the future on the planet earth and it is, a pessimistic accounting of the shape a scientific everyy planned community would take, of its sterility and human emptiness. Ten controllers of the world states determine all aspects of society. Children are born in state hatcheries where according to what social class they will be, they are given or denied certain elements that are critical to fitting development. The citizens are happy and content with their simple lives as it is shown in the novel when it is stated, "We dont want to change. Every change is a menace to stability," therein lies the problem. The key gene to stability that the novel implies is that individuality must be absent. The government in Brave New World understands that fact and in the worlds of one of the ten controllers of the world states, "there is no civilization without social stability. No social stability without individual stability." The need for stability creates a government which believes that stability can be achieved if people think and look the same. Stability, in effect, demands robots, not people. The main element of what makes a person human and unique are the emotions that inhabit their minds, which they can control to well-nigh degree.
